Oriental Medicine Approach

Every disease has a cause and set of symptoms, and Oriental Medicine takes a different approach to alleviating those symptoms. The main priority is identifying the root cause of the disease and being able to accurately examine the reasons for these symptoms.

Two people come in with a complaint of tiredness/lack of energy…

One of them gets more tired after moderate exercise, while the other person feels more energetic after exercise.

The diagnosis for someone who is tired after a moderate amount of exercise is Qi (energy) deficiency and the treatment would be to prescribe tonifying herbs and acupuncture points. We need to make this person stronger.

In the second case, the diagnosis is Qi (energy) stagnation. This person has the Qi, but it is not readily available. The treatment is to prescribe herbs and acupoints that circulate the Qi, making it more available to the body.

The complaint is the same, but the diagnosis and treatment plan are completely different.

Oriental Medicine prioritizes detailed questioning, interviewing, and diagnosis. Consider the next time you have symptoms and evaluate what exactly made you feel this way and why!

It is important to listen to your body and take preventative measures, while also taking action when you are unable to identify what exactly the problem is. Oriental Medicine is a safe and effective approach to evaluating your health.
