How To Take Care Of Your Skin During Covid

There may or may not be an exact way to taking care of your skin during this time, but there is a wrong way…and that is not caring for your skin at all!

Our skin can be vulnerable even though we wear masks. It is important to take care of your skin often as bacteria and daily buildup could cause acne or irritation. If you have experienced acne or irritation in the areas where you frequently wear a mask, you might want to establish or reconsider your daily skin care routine.

Consult your dermatologist before trying any products, or methods, since everyone’s skin can be/react different.

Tips on Caring for Your Skin:

-Drink plenty of water

-Eat fruits and vegetables; avocado, healthy fats, etc.

-Wash your hands before you touch your face

-Avoid sanitizing or spraying Lysol or any sanitizing chemicals on your mask and immediately wear it or spraying/applying it to your skin, as it may cause irritation

-Wash your face at the end of the day with a recommended cleanser or soft/sensitive cleanser to wipe away any dirt, makeup, or buildup and rinse thoroughly with water

-Apply a vitamin serum or moisturizer to protect your skin from drying out during the day

-Wear sunscreen on exposed areas of your face

-Wash your reusable mask to avoid collecting bacteria over time, especially your gym mask where you have been sweating and touching multiple surfaces

-Don’t forget to brush your teeth! Even though people may not get to see them, clean teeth and good gum health have been linked to good heart health!

Don’t make your skin your last priority during this time. Your house/apartment may be spotless and bacteria-free, but your skin could be carrying lots of unwanted bacteria if you neglect it!

Ultimately, consult your dermatologist or physician on what your skin care needs are and how you can best care for your skin on the daily.
